  IN HARMONY
   APPLICATION

   TOOLS OF EXPRESSION

THESE CUSTOM TEXTURES REFLECT A DESIGN PROCESS IN FINDING A BALANCE AND A TRUE EXPRESSION THAT WOULD COMPLEMENT AND ENHANCE THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE ARCHITECTURE TO ITS INTENDED USERS.  IT IS WHAT BINDS FORM TO FUNCTION.  THESE SYMBOLS IDENTIFY AS BEING CHARACTERISTIC OF ITS USERS.

TO THE LEFT WE SEE SHARP ANGLES AND A MORE PRECISE GEOMETRICAL ARRANGEMENT.  THESE FEATURES ARE KNOWN TO BE SYMBOLIC OF SEXUALITY AND REPRESENT FREUD'S BELIEF THAT THE WORLD IS BUILT ON SEXUAL DRIVES.  TO THE RIGHT WE SEE MORE OF A RANDOM ARRANGEMENT AND ORGANIC SHAPES.  THEY ARE SYMBOLS REPRESENTING NATURE AND ITS ENVIRONMENT WHICH COMPLEMENT AGNESI'S DESIRE TO COMMUNICATE WITH NATURE.  THE MIDDLE SYMBOLS REPRESENT THE SYNTHESIS OF THE TWO BELIEFS.  THE ROUNDED SHAPES SYMBOLISE UNITY BUT ARRANGED IN A RANDOM ORDER TO REFLECT THE MORE ABSTRACT NATURE OF THIS RELATIONSHIP.  THE CHECKERED ARRANGEMENT REFLECT AN INTERWEAVING OF THESE TWO DISTINCT NATURES.

HYPOTHESIS:
1.  FREUD BELIEVED THE WORLD IS BUILT ON SEXUAL DRIVES
2.  MARIA DESIRED TO COMMUNICATE WITH NATURE

CREATING AN ARCHITECTURE CONSISTING OF 3 SPACES -
A STRUCTURE MADE OF 10 INTERCONNECTED RECTANGULAR FORMS THAT WOULD HELP DEFINE THE 3 SPACES BY USING THE SPACES ON EITHER SIDE OF THE STRUCTURE AND BETWEEN THAT AND THE LANDFORM.  THIS WILL ULTIMATELY ACCOMMMODATE AND CREATE A DISTINCTIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CLIENTS, FREUD AND MARIA.

the aim of these videos is to portray the building's relationship with it surroundings and its users.

although angular and geometric in shape, the structure still adopts the style and natural contours of its terrain.
contrast to the often traditional monolithic buildings as featured around is also an aspect i'd like to point out.

here we see the relationship between the building and its urban surroundings:

the open studio and gallery:

the natural contour adopted is evocative of what the gallery represents:

quiet reflection as one enjoys the beauty and experience of some artwork.
in an area with a natural and pleasing outlook :

here's a section through the gallery:

these textures play around with light and shadow. they are influenced by selected artworks of Mueck, Malangi and Banksy

ORIGINAL WORK:-

How green do we need to be?? In society's push to be 'green' and everything green, we exhaust efforts to bridge the ever-increasing gap between the idea of a more natural and holistic state to the immeasurable capacity of the virtual world.

PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE:-

The mind boggles with the endless possibilities.  More boggling is that there are actually well-paid crazy people out there who think of such things and create followers of the sane.

MUECK - woman, toiling, strong

MALANGI - order, moving, chaotic

BANKSY - communication, dying, traditional
